painted bathroom

so i finally painted the bathroom in our room.

there is no ventilation in there so there was mold growing on the old paint. so after de-molding. i bought some KILZ one coat paint. it has the primer built in and promises to cover in one coat. even over dark colors.

the bathroom was painted a royal blue. from bottom to top, including the ceiling....

i wish i took a picture before and during, but here is one from when we were looking at the house to buy it.. you can see a crack of the bathroom

so what i did was paint the ceiling in 'boysenberry" and painting random lines across the walls. let it dry and then covered the lines in tape. then i painted the walls in 'pigeon'....peel.. and this is what it looks like now.

Mark. Rebel Rose Quad

I was feeling a little blue today... and so I just started to list of all the things I was thankful for... there are so many! So in an attitude of gratitude... I'm gonna share some more!

MAC mineralize skinfinish in petticoat

This is part of the 'in the groove' collection and I love it! Its a rosy/plum-ish color with golden specks. and even though it is shimmery, its not overly frosty or 'sparkly'.
If you've used any of the other skin finishes, the consistency is similar. very soft...so you don't need a lot. just a little dab dab and you're ready to go! You can use it all over for color, highlight..but I use it as a blush.I feel like it improves the look of my skin too. must be the minerals! now show off those cheekbones!!!

Maybelline Falsies Mascara

Ok so I am basically bald on my eyes.. so if I can actually see my eyelashes, then I've succeeded!

I got it in Very Black Waterproof, because eye makeup smudges all over the place on me and I'm a mess before I even leave.

left eye done, right eye not.. obviously.. or maybe not so obvious! hahaha

It is nice too, when you wash it off it comes off in little tubes rather than smudging all over the place... so all in all.. me likey!

i have to say it doesnt warrant the name falsies, cuz girl.. if these were false eyelashes I'd get a refund. BUT for my real eyelashes, its pretty good!

Dueba Circle Lenses

I ordered some Dueba circle lenses in brown and in grey from pinky paradise...

I could not wait to get them!

BUT

the first time I wore them I came home to a bloody, red, irritated, and inflamed eye. I wasn't sure if if was because of the lens itself or if I had maybe scratched my eye, irritated it some other way, or had some kind of infection. I took them out and didn't put them back in. It took about a week to clear up. Once my eyes were clear I decided to try them again (they are actually quite comfortable and I love how they look) to see if it WAS in fact the lenses or some other reason.

sadly, it IS the lenses. I wish I took a picture that day, as my eyes were both blood shot pretty bad.

This picture is taken 4 days after the second time....

I tried to contact Pinky Paradise, but have not heard back from them. :(

I have been wearing contact lenses for 17 years and have never had a problem. total bummer....

I love how they look, but not at the expense of losing my sight!

the actual sphere is hard but kind of soft/squishy.

What I love is that there is an inner vacuum seal, i don't know if this is why they did it....BUT i left mine in the car on a hot summer's day and it didn't melt all over. I think the inner seal keeps its shape!

old to new

i've been really wanting to re-paint some of my furniture. starting with my kitchen cabinets... i need some more time, space... and inspiration first.

This dresser is so cool! Paint the dresser white and then the drawers are actually wrapping paper!

you glue the paper on and then set with modge podge!

so on this quest of creativity i painted my daughter's little dressers, in the middle of the night in a dark garage. Probably not the best in retrospect.

i like it, but i might do it over... better :)

Goody Spin Pin

These are AMAZING. I saw the commercial for them and was like "huh?" I don't get it.

Then, every time I was at Target (which is every other day) I'd pick them up... think that $5.99 is too much and put them back.

Finally it dawned on me, I can return them if they don't work.

Much to my delight, they work! and are amazing!!!

skin remedies

ok so... are you ever sitting at home, watching tv and you slowly start touching your face and you realize.. it aint as smooth as you'd like? here are some home remedies i've found work great for me.
I have super sensitive skin, and haven't had a reaction... maybe i'll put some of my favorite skin products too.



Basic Skincare
I have a friend that once told me "its more important how you take off your makeup than how you put it on" I think this is very true. I cannot believe that so many women/girls go to sleep wearing their makeup! not only has that makeup been sitting on your skin, it has also picked up all the pollutants, sweat, and debris from your day. So in light of that, take it off before you go to sleep...AND brush your teeth!

Neutrogena: Acne Stress Control
This one dispenses as a foam. i started using this when I got pregnant with my first daughter. my skin was out of control. This has a little bit of a funky smell (if you're sensitive), but it works. it takes off all your makeup and leave your face clean and under control. and less break outs

Mark. That's Deep
this is a gel cleanser. It doesn't bubble like you think a soap should, but it cleans well and gets all your make up off.


Clean & Clear cleanser for sensitive skin
I used this face wash for years. it was the first one i could find that took off waterproof mascara, and didn't dry out my skin. love it!

Eye Make-Up remover


Clinique: take the day off
It really doesn't matter what kind you use, expensive or less expensive, they are relatively the same. I always wear waterproof mascara, so it helps to take it off before I wash my face. You don't want to be rubbing your eyes on a towel to get the raccoon eyes off, pulling on the skin like that will cause premature wrinkles.
if you don't have eye makeup remover..
use vaseline. it works great. slap some on, and wipe off with tissue. it really moisturizes the eye area too which doesn't hurt!



Toner
Most people don't see the importance of toner.
When you wash your face with warm water, you open up all your pores.. toner closes them for you so all that dirt doesn't jump back in!


Clinique clarifying lotion
i LOVE this. if i don't use it, my face doesn't feel clean. you THINK you've gotten all the dirt off your face from washing it, but a swipe of this on a cotton pad..and eww... you see the dirt. so it is like an extra step of cleanliness..plus the tonage. voila!

moisturize
this is so important to me. i have super dry skin and without moisturizer i feel like i've been swimming all day in a chlorine filled pool. it feels tight and cracky.


Clinique: dramatically different moisturizer
an all time favorite. its light, but moisturizes well. isn't sticky and absorbs quickly.


Neutrogena:anti-wrinkle cream
any time a product has anti-wrinkle properties, its a bonus. don't wait til you're old and wrinkly to use anti-wrinkle stuff. its easier to prevent than to treat.
i love this moisturizer...

this comes in a cute little pump. its light, and has a 'skin brightening' particles.
